When we find a product we love we often want to share our discovery with mates. That’s why we’re encouraging and rewarding you to share the love and invite your mates and colleagues to join Buildmate.
When you send an invite link to someone and they register, you’ll get paid when they make a transaction, as long as they created an account using your referral link. To be eligible for the reward, you need to have your own Buildmate account.
This is a two-sided promotion where both the referrer (you) and the referee (mate) will be rewarded. The value of the rewards are set out on the Buildmate refer-a-mate landing page.
The value of these rewards may be changed by Buildmate at its sole discretion. A change in the reward amount will only apply to future rewards you may earn and will not be applied retrospectively. You will only earn rewards when your mates register using your unique referral link.
You can invite as many mates as you like, from anywhere in South Africa, but Buildmate is only able to deliver items within the Western Cape. Buildmate employees are not eligible for this promotion.
Your mate (referee) must be over 18 years of age and cannot already be a Buildmate customer. They cannot have an account, close it and then reopen an account using the link you sent them.
You cannot have multiple accounts, and cannot earn a reward/discount using your own referral link. You must refer ‘real’ people. We consider a customer to be real when they are physically a different individual, and have a different email address and/or delivery address, and telephone number to the details you provided when you registered for an account.
The length of time which this promotion will run for is limited. You can earn money on transactions made by mates during this period only. Buildmate, at its sole discretion, may suspend, terminate, change the terms, time period, and requirements of the referral promotion at any time. Once a referral promotion is terminated a time limit will be set within which your rewards/earnings must be spent, after which they will be forfeited. The time period for using your reward earnings will be confirmed at the time the promotion is cancelled. In the case that you receive no communication around timings, the default time period of 3 months, from date of the promotion’s cancellation, will be applied.
Should Buildmate consider a referral discount (referee’s first purchase discount) or reward discount (referrer chooses to ‘spend’ their earnings as a discount on a purchase) on an order to be made in contravention of these Terms and Conditions, Buildmate reserves the right to withhold release of the order, for delivery or collection, until the discount’s validity can be conclusively confirmed.
Should Buildmate, at its sole discretion, determine that the discount you received contravenes these Terms and Conditions then you have two options. You can continue with your order by paying the discounted amount in full. Use our R1 voucher to do this. Or you can request a full refund on your order. A full refund will be processed same day as requested. The refund will reflect in your bank account within 5 working days.
When claiming your reward you have the right to ask for the earnings to be deposited as cash into your bank account only after the threshold amount has been met. This threshold amount may be subject to change. Details can be found the refer-a-mate landing page.
Buildmate reserves the right to check that your earnings were made in compliance with the Terms and Conditions of this promotion. Payment will be withheld if and until the validity of these earnings can be conclusively confirmed. Should Buildmate, at its sole discretion, determine that some or all of your reward earnings were acquired in a way that contravenes these Terms and Conditions, Buildmate reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and cancel your earnings (in full, or in part) from the referral promotion.
To receive your cash reward you will need to provide your bank account details. Buildmate is only able to make EFT payments into South African bank accounts – no cash payments or foreign currency transfers will be made.

These terms are written in English and the English language version of these terms shall apply, prevail and be conclusive, binding, and used in any legal proceedings.
